Phuket Transport

Phuket has good roads, so it is easy to get around the island. If you are an experienced driver it can be a good idea to rent a motortbike or car. Public transport is cheap, but not frequent and Taxis (Tuk Tuk) are quite expensive.

Public Buses

There are buses (Songtaew) driving around the Island. The Phuket City Local Bus Station can be found at Ranong Street in Phuket Town. From here there are buses going to different beaches such as Patong and Karon. Expect to pay around 20 to 25 baht per trip. Most services stop around 17:00. There are not many options for public transport between beaches.

The Patong Bus Station can be found directly on the beach on the southern part of the town.

Tuk Tuk (Taxi)

The Tuk Tuks in Phuket are small minibuses. They are actually the taxies of Phuket. Expect the prices to be much higher than in other parts of Thailand.

Motorcycle taxis

Motorcycle taxis are available all over Phuket. It costs approximately 20 baht per person to travel around Phuket Town.

Motorbike rental

It is easy to rent a motorbike in Phuket. Depending the size of the machine it can cost anywhere between 150 and 300 baht. The roads in Phuket are good, but along the coast there are many hills. Beware for driving when it rains or when it just rained as the roads can get very slippery.

Long tail boats

At several beaches you can organize a long tail boat to go to nearby Islands or beaches. The price of a long tail should be around 400 baht for small trips. It is possible to rent a boat for a day for around 1000 baht.
