Railay Peninsula
Railay is a peninsula situated between Krabi Town and Ao Nang. The peninsula is separated from the mainland by a mountain and can only be reached by boat. There are 4 beaches on Railay which includes Phranang Beach which is widely considered one of the best beaches in the world.
Rai Leh West is the main beach where the ferries from Ao Nang and Koh Phi Phi pick up and drop visitors. The beach has beautiful scenery with high limestone cliffs on both sides. There is a little village at Rai Leh West. You can cross the island to Rai Leh East which has a less attractive beach. Rai Leh East has a long beach, but there are mangroves growing directly in front of the beach.

If you walk to the far southern point of Rai Leh East you can follow the path next to the cliffs and cross the peninsula to reach Phranang Beach. Phranang Beach is secluded, but many tours stop here to make pictures. If you stay at this beach you will be alone most of the time, but expect day trippers to join you once in a while.
Ton Sai Bay is the third beach on the Railay peninsula. The beach is secluded from the other beaches on Railay, but at low tide you can walk from Ton Sai to Rai Leh West. Ton Sai has vibrant rock climbing community. The area is surrounded by huge limestone cliffs and ideal for climbing.
