Obviously the biggest event and most popular thing to do in Koh Phangan is to visit the Full Moon Party at Hat Rin beach on the South Eastern tip of Koh Phangan. This party is held every month during full moon.

If you missed the Full Moon party you can also head out to the Baan Thai jungle for the Half Moon dance festival which takes place one week before and one week after the Full moon party. Another popular dance event is the Black Moon Party that is organized at Baan Thai beach.

It may not look like it, but Koh Phangan is a lot more than just Dance parties. There are plenty other things to do on the island for people who are not into partying. There are for example several waterfalls such as the Phaeng Waterfalls on the island which are well worth visiting.
