The main form of public transport on Koh Chang is the Songthaew (pick up truck). They drive along the coast all day and you can stop them on the road. Some guesthouses can also arrange to pick you up with a minivan from the pier. Another popular mode of transport on Koh Chang is the motorcycle that you can hire at most guesthouses.

Songthaew

 

When you arrive at the ferry pier on Koh Chang there will be Songthaew’s waiting for you. You can share the Songthaew with other passengers from the boat and depending your destination on the Island the price should be between 50 and 120 baht. If there are not many people arriving and the Songthaew is not full it might happen that the driver will wait for the next boat, or charges you the full price of his almost empty truck.

 

Motorcycle

 

Motorcycles can be rented for around 250 baht per day. If you rent a motorcycle on Koh Chang you have to be aware that there are some tricky bends in the road that follows the coastline. Beware for driving when it is wet and driving in the dark. Between the ferry pier and White Sands Beach there are some tricky hairpins in the road and also down south at Bang Bao.
