Hat Yai Transport

 

Hat Yai is the primary transport hub of southern Thailand and therefore features a variety of transportation options for getting around the region, traveling north Thailand or south into Malaysia. Getting around town or to sights throughout Songkhla Province is equally easy to arrange.

 

Tuk Tuk or Motorbike-taxi.

 

Getting around Hat Yai is not difficult, as the city contains numerous tuk tuks and motorbike taxis. While rates for these are somewhat fixed for locals, rates are a bit higher for foreigners, and you should agree on the price before traveling. Rides to places outside the town are negotiable. The shared taxi going outside of the town can be found at the old market.

 

 

Songtaew

 

Songtaews literally meaning two rows, (with two benches, each at one side of the truck) this small pickup truck it is a bigger version of Tuk Tuk, and a public transport which operates fixed routes like buses, but normally runs a shorter distance or within the province. This is one of the most convenient and cheap way getting around the city, but sometimes it can get a little bit crowded. The price is around 10 baht.

Motorbike/Bicycle rent

 

There are several hotels, guesthouses and shops in town that provide bicycle and motorcycle rental services at the rate of approximately 200 baht per day depending on the Motorbike.
