Bangkok Erawan Shrine
Location: Ratchaprasong intersection, Bangkok.
San Phrom or Erawan Shrine in the Ratchaprasong District in Bangkok. It was built on November 9, 1956 as the spirit house of the Erawan Hotel. The forces of the typical Thai spirit house did not seem effective during the hotel’s construction, so spiritual advisors suggested it should be replaced with the four headed image of Brahma or Phra Phrom in Thai.

Since the enshrinement of Phra Phrom there have been no further problems, and the shrine has become famous for bringing good fortune to both Thais and foreigners. The area has many shopping malls nearby, including Gaysorn, Central World and Amarin Plaza. Traditional Thai dances are performed at the shrine.
