Bangkok is a great city for shopping. You have the traditional street stalls throughout the city, and off course the famous Chatuchak weekend Market, but there are also a lot of big shopping malls where you can spend days looking for clothing or the latest gadgets.

Shopping at Siam Square and the Ratchaprasong District

 

Around Siam Square and Ratchaprasong you will find the luxury malls such as Siam Paragon and Central World. In January 2013 Siam Center opened its doors at Siam Square after an extensive renovation. MBK shopping mall is great for looking souvenirs and copied designer clothing.

 

Shopping in the Pratunam Area

 

The Pratunam Area is famous for shopping for budget clothing and electronics. The Platinum Fashion Mall is packed with cheap t-shirts, dresses and shoes; the Pratunam Market is one of the biggest markets for clothing in the city. If you are looking for electronic gadgets, phones and lap tops you should check out Pantip Plaza.

Furthermore there are many shopping malls around the city such as Asiatique at the Riverside, Mega Bangna including IKEA in the Bang Na Area and Central Rama 9 in the Ratchada Area.

 

When the sun sets you can find a lot of street vendors all over Bangkok. Here you can find souvenirs and pirated goods. You can find these markets around Siam square. At the beginning of Silom road around Sala Daeng BTS station and the Silom MRT station.

In the Old City the street vendors are found in Khao San road. Along the Nana BTS station in Sukhumvit road you can also find plenty of street vendors. An area that you should not miss is China town.
