The Southern or Western Bus terminal in Bangkok also known as Sai Tai Taling Chan is a new modern bus station that services the South of Thailand. It is a bit difficult to get to.

If you are staying in the Old City area the easiest way to get there is by metered taxi. Make sure not to go to Sai Tai Mai which is the old bus station. Expect to pay around 120 baht for the taxi.

 

If you are staying in other parts of Bangkok such as Sukhumvit it might be advisable to go by bus from Victory monument. Line 515 (orange) brings you to Sai Tai Taling Chan for only 16 baht.

 

Destinations that can be reached from the Southern bus station are in the South and West of Thailand such as Kanchanaburi, Hua Hin, Chumpon, Surat Thani, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Hat Yai.

Getting from town to the Southern Bus Terminal:

 

To get to the bus station you can take bus 511 at Petchaburi road, this bus passes the Ratcahtewi BTS station and it also pases the Democracy Monument near Koa San Road. The bus will go straight to

 

Getting from the Southern Bus Terminal to Khao San and the city:

 

When you arrive at the Southern Bus station you can also take line 511 to go to the town. This line pases the Democracy Monument where you can get out if you want to go to Khao San Road. After that the bus follows Petchaburi road which pases Rachatewi BTS station and the Pratunam Area. The ticket for this bus is 14 baht.
