The main train station in Bangkok is Hua Lampong Central Bangkok railway station. It is situated in the heart of the city, close to China town and the Si Lom area.

From the Hua Lampong train station you have connections with the Northern Line (to Chiang Mai), the Northeastern line (to Nong Khai connection Laos), the Southern line (Hua Hin and Butterworth connection Malaysia) and the Eastern line (to Aranyaprathet, border crossing Cambodia and Pattaya).

 

If you want to make sure to catch a train it is better to make reservations at least day in advance. At the Hua Lampong station there is an advance booking office where you can order a ticket up to 60 days in advance. If you try to buy a ticket on the day of travel you might be in for an unpleasant surprise and find the train fully booked. If you travel 3th class there is mostly space.

Note : There is an information centre at Hua Lampong where the staff is there to help you with any advice about traveling. Make sure to use their help and advice as they are very friendly and speak good English. there is also a luggage storage at the station, just ask the people at the information booth.

 

Hua Lampong train station is connected with Bangkok’s MRT underground, with the MRT you have direct connections with Si Lom, Sukhumvit and Makassan station from where you can connect to the Airoprt through the Airport Rail Link.
