Living Art Festival 2013 @Ratchaprasong

The first time ever in Thailand the magnificent work of arts in 4 dimensional!!! Bangkok – Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association (RSTA), with cooperation from Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)and Bangkok Mass Transit System Pcl. (BTSC), creates an artistic sensation through “Living Arts Festival 2013 @Ratchaprasong”, the first-ever 3 and 4 dimensional outdoor street art right at the heart of Bangkok.

Featuring 20 pieces of work by world-class street artists including the United States, Mexico, The Netherlands, Italy and Thailand who show their creativity under the theme of “The Street of Arts The Street of FUN” on footpaths and skywalk in Ratchaprasong area which everyone can appreciate and have their unique poses for photos taking.

 

This event will be held from 27th February– 10th March 2013 with free of charge. Exclusively for 2nd-3rd March 2013, “Living Statues” show will be presented with entertaining shows of human statues including Charlie Chaplin, Van der Werff, Psyche and Dutch Peasants.

 

Santana: The Sentient Tour

Latin-rock guitar legend Carlos Santana is returning to Bangkok to perform a concert at Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani on March 6, 2013, which will also feature special guest, veteran Thai rock band, Carabao.

 

Carlos Santana has been widely praised as one of the most unique guitarists in the world. For more than 40 years in the music industry, Santana has sold more than 100 million records and reached more than 100 million fans at concerts worldwide. Santana has won 10 Grammy Awards, including a record-tying nine for a single project - 1999’s Supernatural (including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for “Smooth”).

 

Songkran (Thai New Year)

Songkran embodies traditional Thai cultural values. Songkran is the traditional Thai New Year, generally celebrated as a water festival.

To celebrate it mean you have to get wet all over and covered in a white powder. A crazy and fun way is at Khao San Rd. in Bangkok.

 

Thailand Labor Day

International Labor Day is also celebrated as a national holiday, even though there isn’t much ado about it. Some businesses may be closed.

 

Coronation Day

Loy Kratong 

 

Type: Festival

Date: 17 November 2013

Loi Krathong Festival or the “Festival of Lights” is one of the two most recognized festivals and beautiful celebration in the country. Although this festival is celebrated nationwide, Loy Kratong is particularly delightful in the provinces of Sukhothai, Chiang Mai Ayutthaya and Bangkok. This event does not occur on the same date every year, it counts on the full moon night of the twelfth lunar month.

Chinese New Year


Type: Festival

Date: February 2014

City/Area: Yaowaraj China Town in Bangkok and Nakhon Sawan, Suphanburi Province (big celebrations)

 

If you are lucky to be in Bangkok during the Chinese New Year, the best place to celebrated together with the locals is, at Yaowaraj China Town in Bangkok. Some of the main events that takes place during the Chinese New Year 2013 Bangkok celebrations include: Dragon parades, Acrobatic dances
and of course the Dazzling fireworks. 

 

Yaowarat road will be closed from 6 p.m. on Saturday until 6 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The main activities will take place from Chinatown Gate to Chalermburi Intersection.
