Vang Vieng Inner Tubing

 

The main attraction in Vang Vieng is tubing down the Nam Song river. In town there is a company that rents out tubes. They bring you to the starting point which is about 8 kilometers from Vang Vieng. You just jump on your tube and let the stream bring you back to town.

Along the river there are about 15 platforms that all have a bar where you can stop with your tube anytime. Each bar has it’s own activities and theme, some bars may have swings, zip lines, music, or mud pits. The drinks are affordable and some bars offer free shots of whiskey and here you can drink the traditional BeerLao.

Note : During the dry season the water is very shallow, which might give you some bruises as your bum can hit the rocks when your tube floats over it. A lot of places offer a free joint if you buy a beer there. This does not mean that drugs are legal in Laos. Beware of that, if the police catch you in town smoking you might end up paying a hefty fine or even go to jail.
