Poipet

Poipet is the main and by far most popular international border crossing for overland trips between Siem Reap and Thailand. There is no reason to stay longer in Poipet unless you either missed the border’s opening hours or you would like to try your luck in one of the many casinos.

Many people who stay in Thailand and want to extent their visa go for a visa run to Poipet. They just cross the border hang out a bit at the casino and then head back to Thailand. When entering Thailand again they can stay another 15 days. The border closes at 20:00.
