Battambang is surrounded by picturesque countryside with rice paddy fields and beautiful traditional Khmer houses that will give you a glance of traditional Khmer life. Most of the attractions of Battambang are located a bit outside of the city like Phnom Banan or the water reservoir of Kamping Pouy, so you will drive through the countryside on the way to the sites.

The villagers and people of Battambang are extremely friendly and welcoming therefore it is worthwhile to stop, stay for a while and stroll along the stilted houses and the ricefields. Have a chat with the villagers and learn about the rice planting and harvest. In case you are coming in raining season try to plant some rice – it is great fun!
In dry season the roads can be a bit dusty, so don’t forget some sunglasses and cloth to cover your eyes, mouth and nose!
